Fairfield Surgery was purpose built in 1992 to provide the residents of Burwash and the surrounding villages with a convenient and easily accessible means to consult their General Practitioners. Dr. Jane Woodgate joined the practice in 1987, followed by Dr. Bruce Packham in 1992 and Dr. Mathew Thomas in 2002. The doctors have a partnership contract but not a limited partnership.
The practice is not a training practice but does encourage and participate in the teaching of health care professionals.
The doctors have close working relationships with many members of the community health staff. As a team they provide primary health care to over 4000 patients. The doctors welcome new patients from within the practice area that covers Burwash Parish, and a number of areas outside the Parish boundaries.
The surgery has suitable access and facilities for all disabled patients.

This is a voluntary organisation supplying transport for the 'non-mobile' to help with:
Hospital appointments when hospital transport is not available;
An appointment at the surgery;
Collection of prescriptions.
We have a list of volunteer drivers but, each year this gets shorter for various reasons. Obviously, the shorter the list the more frequently the drivers are contacted. We are, therefore, always looking for additional drivers. It isn't necessary to be available every day of the week, or even for whole days (9.30am to 2pm when the children are at school, perhaps?). You would only be contacted in connection with journeys when you would be available.
Such voluntary driving should not affect your car insurance and we are able to reimburse drivers 45p per mile.
Please consider if you are able to help us and if you would like more information please collect a leaflet from the surgery.
The organisation also administers contributions and donations made to the Friends of Burwash Surgery for the funding of equipment not normally provided by the NHS.
