Burwash, Burwash Common and Burwash Weald

Community Internet Facility

Located between the Scout Headquarters and Fairfield Surgery in the free Burwash Car Park the Community Internet Facility is run by volunteers who can help learners to set up a free email account, search the web and register for free online basic computer training. We already have a number of successful ‘students’ who have completed the basic computer course!

Opening Times:

Monday

10-00am - 1.00pm

Wednesday

10-00am - 1.00pm

Friday

10-00am - 1.00pm

The facility will also be available for private hire, and we are planning a series of special events and focused training sessions that we believe will be of interest to everyone, and not just beginners.

What we offer

Our community internet cafe opened in mid-April 2011 to provide computer and internet access for the community, businesses and leisure travellers.

3 PCs are available for use), plus printing and scanning available for a small fee.

For local residents using their green residents card (distributed to households in 2011) the use of the facility is charged at 10p per hour. For Non-residents there is a charge of 1 for up to 30 minutes or 2 for up to one hour. .

Free Training

We’re aware that many older people find computers and the Internet something of a challenge too far, and inevitably lose out on the benefits that the Internet can deliver for everyone.

We're addressing this “digital disadvantage” by offeringfreebasic computer training classes to local residents, and the training will be provided by our team of volunteers.

Where there is demand for other courses on specific topics – these can be arranged.

With a little help and some training in no time at all it is possible for users to be able to

- Send and receive emails

- Send photographs to friends and relatives

- Make internet telephone calls using Skype*

- Make savings on train and airline tickets; print tickets and boarding passes

- Shop around for the best deals on gas, electricity, mobile phone, car and home insurance and much more

- Research family history

- Generally surf the World Wide Web!
