Neighbourhood Plan

Latest news:

Why did YOU decide to live in Burwash?

... and if you move house in the next few years - would you like to stay in the three-village area ? These questions feature in the housing needs survey produced by the Neighbourhood Plan team. We'd like every household to complete the questionnaire so that people's needs can be planned for - and so that we can influence future local planning decisions.

Click here for the questionnaire. Please print it and drop the completed form off at the addresses shown in Burwash Weald, Burwash and Burwash Common. If you need help completing the survey, contact Mary Clarke on 01435 882918.

  • Local businesses and sole traders working in Burwash, Burwash Common or Burwash Weald are being asked to complete questionnaires so that their voices can be heard as we develop the Neighbourhood Plan. If you have not yet received a questionnaire, contact Lindsay Green at lindsaygreen777@yahoo.com or 07775 862846.
  • Neighbourhood Plan volunteers and the Parish Council have conducted an emergency consultation to guage the severity of household and pedestrian safety problems on the so-called pinch point on the High Street. Results to be published soon.
  • Volunteers have set up a project with the Sussex Wildlife Trust to update the ‘Biodiversity Records’ held for Burwash parish. They are building a picture of what is distinct and precious about where we live and how it is evolving. Click here to join.

Neighbourhood Plan - Background

In January 2016 Burwash Parish Council voted to produce a Neighbourhood Plan to identify and put in place policies for the future development and growth of our three-village community.

The Parish Council has earmarked £2,000 from reserves for this important initiative, and has been awarded a grant for £8,000, giving a total of £10,000 to spend on producing the Burwash Neighbourhood Plan (BNP).

An initial consultation questionnaire and call for potential development sites was sent out to all households, asking for input into the key components of the plan and we have now employed a Consultant with experience of setting up neighbourhood plans across Kent, Surrey & Sussex to work with us.

There is an active group of volunteers and parish councillors working on the Neighbourhood Plan steering group, chaired by Mark Napier. The group has set up a raft of consultations and is producing key documents which will ultimately form part of our submission to the Inspector.
