Following the havoc created by last winter's bad weather, East Sussex County Council has issued a series of information leaflets and advice on ESCC plans for dealing with bad weather this year should (or when) it proves to be necessary, and also a range of advice for individual householders on such issues as availability and usage of grit, and snow clearance outside your home. The latter is particularly important for those concerned about the legal position of accidents occurring to pedestrians following snow clearance outside your home.
Please note that grit bins are provided with grit and salt for clearing primarily roads, and where necessary public footpaths. They are not a source of supply for personal and private domestic usage, nor are they alternatives to refuse bins. Please help us to ensure that they are only used for their intended purpose.
The documents are easy to read, and offer sensible advice should we experience another bad winter.
