Patient Participation Group (PPG)

All patients of Fairfield Surgery are potential members of the Patient Participation Group (PPG). All patients are invited to join the Virtual PPG by providing their email address so that they can be sent any health information relevant to our Fairfield patient group.

The PPG committee represents all the Fairfield patients and is made up of up to 12 members. They work in partnership with practice staff and GPs. This partnership between patients and their practices is essential to achieving high quality and responsive care. The committee meets every 2 months and the minutes are published on the Fairfield website.

The local PPG is affiliated to the National Association of Patient Participation (N.A.P.P.) For more information click on the link to the surgery website above or contact Claudette Neville, PPG Secretary, 01435 883 043 email: ppg.fairfield@gmail.com

Appointments

Book-in-advance
These appointments are usually available to book a few weeks in advance and are generally used for medication reviews or reviewing on-going non-urgent issues. They can be booked via telephone, in person or online through the Fairfield website via EMIS. If you have not registered for EMIS please take identification (Passport, driving licence etc.) and the Receptionist will give you the necessary information to register. You can also use this to order repeat prescriptions.

Routine on-the-day appointments
These appointments are for those people whose needs are not urgent but would like an appointment that day, and who need an appointment sooner rather than later. To reserve one of these slots you need to ring up on the clinic day. Telephone lines open at 8am.
When you call the practice, please provide the reception team with an indication of the nature of your visit, so that the receptionist can ensure that they book you in with the most appropriate GP and for the correct type of appointment.

There are also urgent appointments for both morning and afternoon sessions.
Note that, in order to provide the best care, we ask patients to only ask for urgent appointments if they feel their case is genuinely medically urgent and can't wait until the next routine appointment. Examples of urgent appointments include problems with pain, unwell children, infections.
