Planting trees for the community and cooking up a storm
Some fantastic news for our Scoutgroup was received earlier this month. We applied for an Co-op community award to pay for our replacement windows and repairs of the scout HQ and we received £1727.00 to carry out the works it is a great help to us all. We are aiming to have all new windows fitted before Christmas 2011.
Our Beavers had a fantastic month behind them. Not only have they been working on the community awards by doing a litterpick in the area of the scout HQ in Burwash. The Beaver section is celebrating its 25th year. To celebrate this great event several Beavers joint other Beavers from all over Britain in Legoland. They had a great time visiting the park and undertaking the rides and looking at the Lego structures. The Beavers also went on a night hike through the fields in Burwash.
Well earlier this month the Cubs where invited to a mystery tour. It was a great mystery to all including the leaders. No one but the coach driver and the tour guide on the coach was informed of the destination. Our starting point for our cubs was 7.15am at Crowborough scout group. We joined them in the coach and soon after departure the famous lines all known by every parent, leader, carer in the country was heard all over the Coach. ‘Are we nearly there yet’ well we travelled towards Lewes. Most Cubs had lost there bearings by now. We went into the town of Hove to stop in the middle of Hove to collect more Cubs. By now we had a full coach load of cubs and leaders. The coach took us further away from East Sussex. After a relatively short journey we arrived at the Wetland Centre in Arundal. We explored the bird paradise and followed a trail with lots of questions and answers. After several hours we headed back for the coach and we swiftly moved over the main roads of West Sussex. What was going to be in store?? We ended up in Portsmouth together with well over 300 other cubs from all over Sussex. We explored Nelsons flagship, waved goodbye at the Ark Royal, sank a submarine, flew helicopters and explored the gift shop. We travelled back by coach dropped off our new Hove friends and returned to Crowborough by twilight.

Later that month all cubs took part in a night hike through the fields and we ended up at Stonegate, luckily we did inform the parents in advance and nobody had to hike back.
The Explorer Scout Section took part in a night hike earlier this month only they had to prepare there own hike and sort out there own route. A meeting point and time slot was given and indeed arrived at the halfway point in time. The Hike ended up in Stonegate. Other activities the Explorers did get involved with was the air rifle practice.
There is a lot of activities coming up later in the year for all sections and we will try to give you a taster of the day. Our program is available for vieuwing on the District Web Site. www.senlacscouts.org.uk

You can see that we have great times at the scout movement and we cannot do this without the help of all dedicated volunteers. Before some of our hardworking volunteers are getting worn out we would appreciate if you could join our Group to share our tasks. All we ask from you is some time and inspiration. We can provide you with training and it can get you a qualification in working with youth members.
