Saturday 6th August saw another very successful Summer Show for the Burwash Horticultural Society. With over 230 entries covering Flowers, Vegetables, Floral Art, Cookery and Photography there were colourful displays to catch the eye of the many visitors to the show.
The judges, made up of keen, respected amateurs and retired professional horticulturalists, commented on the very high standard of entries in all categories and felt the standard has improved every year. They were particularly impressed with the high number and quality of the rose entries. They also felt that all entrants had really tried to put in the very best they could and the judges had a hard job to pick out the winning entries.
There were some exquisite floral art displays and also some mouth watering cookery entries and the photography classes were outstanding.
Richard Maude-Roxby, Chairman of the society commented, that overall, this was one of the most successful shows the society had staged and hoped it would encourage even more members of the society to enter the shows next year.
