Contact the Elderly is a national charity headquartered in Henrietta St, London, which seeks to take out a group of elderly people to private homes on one Sunday every month.
For the past four years there has been a local Contact group based in Burwash involving around 6 drivers and 12 hosts (one for each month of the year). Our guests (around 10 - 12 in number) are collected by a driver and taken to the host's home for tea and returned home afterwards. There is no charge to the guests and all the help is voluntarily given.
We are always looking for new guests - aged in the region of 80 and upwards, living alone and not normally able to get out on their own. We are also keen to find new drivers and hosts. The drivers take our guests out every month to the address of the current host and return them afterwards. The hosts share their home for 2 hours, on one Sunday afternoon a year.
